About the Course

MATH


Course Description:

The Arithmetic 6 work-text includes an abundance of

practice problems and review exercises to help each

student master important arithmetic skills and

concepts. Various math games are incorporated each

class period to reinforce math concepts being taught

at the beginning of each class. In addition Mind

Benders, an award winning critical thinking resource,

is used throughout the year. Activities taken from

this resource are a fun and engaging way for

students to develop essential critical thinking skills.


Course Objectives:

Daily story problems and frequent problem-solving

strategies are featured, providing practical

application for real-life situations. Arithmetic 6 takes

students from the known to the unknown as they

study fractions, decimals, proportions, percent,

prime factoring, algebraic equations, measurement,

and basic geometry.


Pre Requirements:

Completion of 5th grade math

Abeka Arithmetic 6 Fourth Edition

Notebook and graph paper

Pencils

Eraser

Ruler

Protractor and Compass (used 2nd semester)


Grading Scale:

90-100 A

80-89 B

70-79 C

0-69 F
