About the Course

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

Course Description:

Beginning with an introduction to why we do science, the Physical Science

Student Text, 5th ed., gradually builds the student's understanding of

physics concepts in a logical sequence. Beginning with classical mechanics,

the text progresses through work and energy, wave phenomena, electricity

and magnetism, and light and optics. These transition naturally into the

chemistry topics, beginning with the atomic model, then to elements and

compounds, chemical reactions, and finishing with solutions, and acids,

basis, and salts. Every chapter shows by example why the subject matter is

relevant to a Christian worldview of science.

Each student will do a Science Fair project as well this year.

Course objectives:

Students will know how everything they do relates to chemistry and

physics. Their love for chemistry will grow as they will see the

wonder in how matter and energy interact in the food we eat, the

drinks we drink, and the matter that makes up our world. While in

physics they will see how things move, why things move, and why

objects behave as they do.

Pre-Requirements:

You should be in the 9-12th grade to take this class.

Homework Expectations:

Syllabus online for daily details. Homework grades are based only on

completion and details, not accuracy. Please make sure your child

understands each assignment when working with them at home.
